The tradition of brocade manufacture was prevalent in many centers in India such as Ahemadabad and Surat in the west. Brocade designs may be Tasvir or pictorial theme, Phulwar a floral design, Butidar, Geometrical Pattern, Shikargah or hunting scenes.
